Forgiveness Is a Banking Term Forgivenes

Forgiveness Is a Banking Term

Forgiveness is a banking and accounting term, meaning to wipe away a debt or give relief from paying what is owed. Years ago when I was a banker sometimes the bank would call a struggling business borrower and say something like, “You owe us $7,000 in principal and interest to be current on your loan. If you pay us $6,000 by next week, we’ll forgive the $1,000 in interest you owe us.” When a bank forgives your debt, they essentially delete your debt from your records.

What wounds do you keep reviewing as if you’re a loan officer trying to collect a bad debt?

Whose records do you need to delete from your mind?

What debt against you do you need to wipe away, so that you can move on with your life in a more positive and joyful fashion?

Simply put, who do you need to forgive, so that you can drop what happened to you yesterday in order to be happy today?

You Owe Me! When someone offends you, do

You Owe Me!
When someone offends you, do you ever say, “You owe me an apology”? I know I do. I used to say to myself, “Just let it go” but that didn’t always work. I didn’t want to feel like the offender “owed me” something, especially something I might never collect. I was glad when I discovered that there’s biblical support for feeling this way.

When you say, “You owe me an apology” you’re admitting “I need to forgive you.”

Refusing to reply is a silent way to end a a fruitless argument, an easy and polite way to say “No more nonsense! I refuse to fuel the foolishness!”

PRAYER AND THE ANGELS

Reblogged from EM Bounds and Prayer:

The Prayer Life of EM Bounds by Kevin M Thomas

EM Bounds: ”All God’s saints came to their sainthood by the way of prayer. The saints could do nothing without prayer. We can go further and say that the angels in heaven can do nothing without prayer, but can do all things by praying. These messengers of the Highest are largely dependent on the prayers of the saints for the sphere and power of their usefulness, which open avenues for angelic usefulness and create missions for them on the earth.

Don’t Waste Your Time

It was nearly 10 PM when I arrived home.  Just then an acquaintance contacted me and falsely accused me of being offensive to him in a public setting. So I sat down on my front porch to process this late breaking tale. My youngest son sat down in the chair next to mine. He wanted to talk since he had not seen me for over 12 hours. He spoke but I wasn’t really listening. So he politely said, “I’ll just go inside now.” Essentially what he meant was “You’re obviously not paying attention to me. So I might as well leave, since my presence is making no difference here. You’re physically here but not mentally present.”

Ouch! He was right. I had to make a choice. I could prioritize my relationship with my son and enjoy his company or I exalt my pity party and ignore him.

My commitment to forgiveness allowed me to focus on my true priorities. We only possess so much time and energy and we must choose to invest in our true priorities, instead of waste our recourses on things that do not really matter or add value to our lives. Forgiving others helps us redeem our time and make the most out of our lives.
